Being a minority in a majority world.

While it’s exhausting to bring rhyme and reason to this concept it must be stated…. In a world where you can be a lot of everything and be seen, you can be deficient by the worlds standards and still be seen- in a different way.

In 2022 it’s the reason:

That a white man can walk into a grocery store in buffalo New York, pass all the white bystanders and explicitly and directly target black patrons

It’s the reason that

Healthcare in America in 2022 is still far from equitable and food desserts are still ravaging the communities of our black and brown families

It’s the reason that….

School boards and districts are intentionally creating laws to erase the teaching of black history and critical race theory in our k-12 school systems because they know that televising that revolution is only a threat to the systematic and cyclical existence of racism in the first place. If we negate the reception then they can dominate the progression.

It’s the reason that …

Voter laws in Georgia in the year 2022 were stifled intentionally against black voters

It’s the reason…

Coach prime was ridiculed by the black community for capitalizing on his hustle instead of congratulated for making moves that anyone else in that position would have made…

It’s the reason that…

The mortality rate of black maternal health is at an all time high and only few people are speaking about it… FYI- the control the population narrative hasn’t changed!!!

It’s the reason that…

As a 30 year old black woman I’m constantly in a state of fight or flight… defend or surrender… jump ship or get on board in my professional career…

Whether Minority or majority…. Seen or unseen…. Heard or unheard… in 2023 YOU NEED to stop making excuses for other people’s ignorance, prejudice, racism, judgement, control, manipulation and the like Thereof…overt or covert….

Whether in the professional setting or in the face of higher home rates…. When you’re still being followed in the grocery store or when you’re worried if your black son will live past his 18th birthday! It is what you think!

When you’re ostracized and ridiculed and set a part not because of anything you say or do but Simply for who you are take it at face value…

If you have to make the question,

“Is it because of who I am… how I identify… what I believe… what I stand for”

The answer is yes. I’m tired of making excuses for any and everyone who walks around with arrogant privilege

Now hear me clear…. You are a blessing. So be the blessing. Keep entering those spaces and letting your presence be felt seen and heard. Don’t dim your light or live in fear!

But Let’s not go into 2023 expecting that these truths will cease.
