During day 15 I had an eye doctor appointment. During that pre-scheduled appointment my right eye was coincidentally in throbbing pain. The doctor informed me that my cornea was swollen and inflamed. This caused extreme irritation and sensitivity to light, which limited my ability to be in front of a screen.
In February of this year, I had surgery in my left eye to try saving the cornea. The cornea in both my eyes is thinning. Once completely thinned out, complete blindness is expected to occur. Yesterday after a follow up from that surgery in Feb. I was informed that my cornea is scarred and I will need a cornea transplant in my left eye.
When I took this leap to encourage you all through this journey, I knew it wouldn't come easy. I know that my constant effort to expose my wounds, or expose any spiritual, mental, and emotional weapons that may be sent to throw you off track, comes with a cost. Often a cost against my mind, my spirit, my soul. But I bare it, because you're worth it. This work is worth it. So I take my small, and pray that it will be enlarged in your life.
Day 16
For many believers, we have been taught to have faith the size of a mustard seed. We've been taught that what we sacrifice in obedience to God can multiply. What we plant and sow in faith, can expand supernaturally in our life.
But Ive never dug deeper into this mustard seed.
Mustard seeds are usually about 1-2 millimeters in size and under certain conditions can grow up to 3-5 meters in size.
Mustard seeds are often used in spices across the world.
Antioxidants from mustard seeds can provide benefits that protect our bodies against infections and diseases.
We rarely observe the little things in their initial state and immediately see something bigger. Often times we examine the small and despise its beginning. Without question it is counted as insignificant.
We've done this with entry level job positions. We've done this with first dates because it didn't check allllll the boxes. We've despised living spaces before enriching the space with furniture and decor. (I don't know about y'all but when my husband and I first moved into our place, we made our air mattress feel like the most luxurious California king bed. I've made ramen noodles taste like steak) We've all been there.
The truth about mustard seed faith biblically, is God is not focused on what you have now, He's focused on where your faith is centered. If we had everything we desired in life, we wouldn't need faith. But when our faith is rooted in God, he takes the "small, insignificant things" (in our eyes) to confound the wise. The things that seem foolish and impossible, return as masterpieces through Him.
Our broken hearts and broken dreams are worthless in our eyes, but are the perfect clay for Him to mold.
But often times before we give ourself permission to plant, water, and wait for the uprooting of the seed, we've already counted it as insignificant. When we overthrow the acorn because we're focused on the oak tree, we miss the beauty that ashes can blossom into.
It may seem like nothing to you, but in faith it's everything. Mustard seeds are small to us but spread significantly.
The gift you're sitting on, may seem like nothing to you, but may have a significant impact to the world. Your testimony that you think no one will listen to, could be the one word someone needs to keep going..... that one little change... that one truth you must speak.... that one person you must let go.... may seem small in the moment, but is promised to produce a harvest.
Examine the "small" in your life.... The things you've counted as insignificant.... maybe even the things you keep putting off because you'll eventually get to it...
Pray for wisdom, guidance, and even insight into the promise over your "small". Take a step back and begin to envision it as the oak tree ....
See it... before you see it- that is the essence of faith.
This is your reminder that there is significance and promise in all things. Even the small. Expand the lens of your mustard seed
I declare significance in your small in 2023
