If you've grown up in the church, visited a church, or spent any time in the church (often mega churches) you've heard this scripture, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Often times this has been quoted around offering time which has misled many people financially in the church. In this scripture money isn't mentioned, but we won't even drive in that lane today.
What I do want to acknowledge is the times we have made the mark or surpassed the mark set before us. A lot of times we set goals of growth from the marks we missed. But what about when we don't.....
How many times have we selfishly sat on information that we could've shared with the next person or next generation, or remained silent in revealing how we've overcome trauma that could've easily bought healing to someone else?
So in an effort to not exhaust the discussion, I want to remind you of your options when you finally get it right and make the mark.
Give and it will be given to you........ SOW WHAT YOU KNOW! For the measure you use it will be measured to you.
You withhold information that could enhance someone else's future....best believe when you're in need, that same energy will be brought back to you.... Sow selfishness, reap selfishness. Sow gossip, reap gossip. Sow judgement reap judgement. Sow slander, reap slander. Sow a blessing, reap a blessing.
Sowing a seed is not always about blessing others financially.... when we are building legacy its not always about how much money will be left to future generations....
Truth is, you leave the next generation a million dollars, without wisdom and knowledge of how to steward that seed, the money means nothing....
Whether it's this week or next year, I pray the opportunity is presented to you to sow.... Sow in wisdom, sow in character, sow in healing.... sow!
Some people may look at me crazy when I share as much information as I do about my life, my journey, and all Ive had to overcome! But the truth is, this isn't about me.... This is about exposing my scars to heal yours.... In a world where judgment and criticism and gossip take the front seat when someone misses the mark by the world's standards, how about changing the narrative... How about challenging the status quo.... How about being the blessing..... Because its destined to come back around to you...
Remain humble because today its someone else but tomorrow it can easily be you... I often think about how I teach my students to reflect on their testing data. Often times, I will have students who excel academically and Ill still have to remind them that they are not performing on a 3rd grade level according to their data.... They aren't expert readers.... They haven't learned all there is to learn.... Even with my masters degreed self Im still learning daily... Live and lead in humility because life is presenting lessons daily.
So simply put, sow what you know.....or reap whatever it is that you choose to sow.
