Anytime we outgrow people and places, often times you’ll hear the feedback “you’ve changed”."
Maybe from their perspective it’s perceived negatively because it’s no longer serving them… But truth is if you’ve changed for the better, it should only be serving you.
One time my mentor shared that you’re not loyal to anyone but yourself… if you leave a company they’ll find your replacement…. If you buy a million fords it only benefits Mr. Henry himself not you… This is why you have your own vision… you can’t go broke or exhausted serving and knowing someone else’s vision more than your own…
But I digress…
This idea of changing and evolving is the essence of humanity… from the birth certificate until the death certificate, really examine how much your life changes!
At conception we are just a seed in our mothers womb. For nine months We grow until we OUTgrow that space….
We grow all of the hairs on our head, and as time progresses that hair line starts receding, and strand by strand turns grey and eventually non existent.
As infants we experience teething as our teeth grow in… then we lose those very teeth that caused us the growth pain…. Then when we become children and we eagerly wait for the tooth fairy’s reward as our teeth fall out, and our adult teeth roll in… and then at some point, we’re sitting in rocking chair with a fresh set of dentures…
The belly fat is cute and chubby as a baby but not as pretty when you’re grown and voluptuous (lol)
We’ve outgrown a lot of romantic relationships and really we need to just thank God for that!
Biblically Speaking:
David wasn’t just Jessie’s boy he was Goliath’s slayer.
Joseph wasn’t just a son and a brother, he was a promise holder.
Jesus isn’t just sovereign savior, he was at one point a surrendered son saying, “not my will but yours be done”
My question today isn’t how have you change… instead I’m curious… how are you preparing for the next version of you…
I’m also not asking who are you and how are you changing for the benefit of others… I can be Kennedys mom and Jeremy’s wife but if I lose all of that, I’m just Lia…
What season of life are you in? Do you know what’s coming next and what version of yourself that will require you to be? How do you plan/will you plan for the unexpected versions of your life, that will be demanded of you?
If it’s a season of forgiveness I pray your will heart will be full of compassion and grace…
If it’s a season of surrender I pray your arms would remain in a posture of contentment and not control.
Wherever change meets you, do not approach it from a place of frustration, derailment, or denial. Embrace the change because the truth is, you should always be in a state of building, transition, or change.
A new you is coming
So is another 365 ... The next 365 won't be the same so you can't either.
How will you greet them both?
